GEOLOGY.
From a geological point of view, the soil of Poggio Trevvalle has its origins in the sedimentation occurring between the Upper Miocene and the Pliocene (Zanclean – Piacenzian) eras.
The soil is composed of Pliocene marine deposits (conglomerates, geological unit code ‘PLIB’) contributing to give Poggio Trevvalle’s wines an unmistakable, slightly salty note.
